Frequently Asked Questions
Materials & Processes
I use different techniques to produce my art - both digital illustration (using a tablet and digital drawing pen to draw on screen) and painting, sometimes combining the two. You can read about my style and technique in depth in this piece I wrote.
My colours are inspired by - and sometimes use - those of interior paint brands, to ensure harmony with your home decor scheme.
I choose my products and materials carefully to ensure longevity.
Most of my paints come from the professional ranges of acrylic paint brands, purchasing them from a UK-based business.
My prints are produced using archival quality inks and papers.
Tea-towels are 100% cotton, printed with colour-fast inks.
Placemats and coasters are melamine with a synthetic rubber backing to make them washable and durable.
Every illustration and painting is made by me. I then use a range of UK-based small-to-medium businesses to produce different products, from fine art prints to greeting cards and my homeware.
The locations are based on places I’ve been to, and I use my own photographs as references. My art was born from a desire to make those memories and experiences last beyond the holiday - looking for a way to carry those special moments through into our homes and everyday lives.
If you’d like to suggest a location for me to draw or illustrate, I’d love to hear from you! You can send me an email - it can be made exclusively for you or added to my range of fine art prints.
My fine art prints are often titled with the name of the location they’re inspired by. My paintings tend to be based on a theme, such as the ocean, or memories, and the titles follow that theme.
As well as online, I pop up at various art and illustration fairs, and designer-maker markets throughout the year. Have a look at my Events page, or join my mailing list to find out when my next event will be.
Prints
A giclée print is a digital printing technique using a wide range of inks at a high resolution, delivering beautiful images that are archival quality - tests have shown the colours last 100 years.
My fine art prints are made in standard sizes to make it easy for you to find your perfect frame. The dimensions listed for each piece are the overall paper size – e.g A3 or 16 x 8 inches.
Many online frame shops have calculators to help you work out what size you need if you want a mount as well as a frame, or if you have a local framer, you will be able to choose from a wide range of frames, mounts and glass.
Read framing tips from my local framers in SW London.
To minimise waste, many of my fine art prints are made on order. This means that when I receive your order, I contact my fine-art printers to produce it, rather than holding copies of each design in stock.
For certain prints, I may not offer a size smaller due to the amount of detail in the design as the beauty of the intricate detailing tends to get lost.
You can definitely go bigger or request a custom size! Some of my collectors have had a specific frame they’ve wanted to use, and I have made custom versions of my illustrations for them.
Gifts & Personalisation
Absolutely - just put in your loved one’s address as the delivery address at checkout. You also have the option to mark your order as a gift and add a gift note.
Definitely - this kind of customisation was one of my founding philosophies! If you love a location but would prefer a different colour palette, we can create your perfect piece together, making it an exclusive version just for you. You can find out more about my custom art service, or contact me for more information.
Yes, and some of my collectors have done this. The prints chosen tend to be the wedding venues which have been customised by adding dates and names, making it all the more meaningful for the newly-wedded couple! You could also think about where the couple met or live, or commission a bespoke illustration for that extra-special touch.
