As the area was local to me, I could easily explore and visit each pub, getting a feel for the atmosphere of each venue. Every detail was noted, from the architecture and signage to the greenery and ambience. I wanted to capture the essence of each place and K’s memories.

The room the commission was to go in was olive green, and K also wanted the colour scheme to be different from the print she already had. I explored colours that would harmonise with both the room and existing print, ensuring plenty of contrast. I created a vibrant palette that reflected the energy of each pub, bringing each illustration to life with a unique colour scheme, for a visually striking and evocative piece of art.
