These original paintings, created during lockdown, are a way of expressing a yearning to be by the sea, evoking a sense of relaxation and re-living chilled moments. They are a reminder of amazing sunsets seen, and those yet to come. Paintings to inspire, reminisce and bring the feelings of our shoulders dropping, the taste of salty sea air and sand under our toes right into our home.
Sunset; original painting
My favourite sunsets
I dug through my photos from right here in the UK to Sri Lanka via Spain's Mediterranean coast to pull together inspiration for the landscapes. From pinks to yellows and oranges, I’m fascinated how the light changes and how you can feel the warmth of the setting sun.

Creating the paintings
Similar to my prints, I start with sketches and colour moodboards before translating the idea to canvas and painting. I wanted the scenes to be a combination of elements of sunsets from across the globe.
Copper detailing; Sunset original painting
Palm leaves detail; Under the Palm Trees painting
Sunset features tiny, metallic copper lines on the water to recreate light hitting the water, whilst each leaf on Under the Palm Tree was drawn using both brush and pen.
